About Edward Hasbrouck
Edward Hasbrouck is the world's best-known authority on around-the-world travel and an expert in international airfares, with a global reputation founded on his writing on the Internet and in the Practical Nomad book series. Edward has been featured in a BBC-TV travel documentary and interviewed on CNN, PBS, NPR, and Pacifica Radio, and has given travel planning seminars throughout the USA, in Canada, and the UK. In addition to his writing and speaking, Edward has been a full-time travel agent specializing exclusively in around-the-world travel and airline tickets since 1991. Currently, he is a travel consultant, industry analyst, and the "Travel Guru" for AirTreks.com in San Francisco.

Before finding his niche in around-the-world travel, Edward worked as a bicycle courier, graphic artist, publications assistant, database maintainer, and volunteer paralegal, political organizer, lobbyist, and publicist. He has traveled around the world twice, visited all 50 states of the United States and 27 other countries, and worked with thousands of independent travelers to help them plan and organize their trips. His clients have included educational groups, environmental organizations, development NGOs, aid volunteers, and human rights workers. He is an evangelist for travel as a positive force for global understanding and change as well as personal growth and empowerment.

Edward is a member of numerous professional associations and peace and human rights groups, including the International Airlines Travel Agent Network, Tourism Concern, Guidebookwriters.com, Bay Area Travel Writers, the National Writers Union, the National Lawyers Guild, the War Resisters League, the National Association of Railroad Passengers, the Train Riders Association of California, and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. When he has time, he is an avid traveler; bicyclist; internationalist; and activist for youth and human rights and liberation, disarmament, peace, democracy, self-determination, and the decentralization of power. When he's not traveling, he lives in San Francisco with his partner Ruth Radetsky.
